Ready before the next storm takes the power out.
Transfer switches, inlet boxes and standby generator wiring for homes across South Miami-Dade.

After a hurricane, FPL can take days to get a neighborhood back up. A generator gets you through it, but only if it is connected safely. Running cords through a window is how fridges and phones stay on and how people get hurt. Backfeeding a dryer outlet is worse, because it can energize the line a utility crew is working on.
We install manual transfer switches and inlet boxes for portable generators, and full transfer switches for standby units. Manny works out which circuits matter to you, whether that is the fridge, the AC, a medical device or the well pump, and sizes the setup to match.
What the job includes
- Manual transfer switches and generator inlet boxes
- Automatic transfer switch wiring for standby generators
- Load calculation so the generator is sized to what you want running
- Critical circuit selection, done with you
- Whole-house surge protection
- Permit and inspection
Signs it's time to call
- You own a portable generator and run it with extension cords
- Someone in the house relies on powered medical equipment
- You lost food, AC or work during the last outage
- You are adding a standby generator and need it tied in
What it costs
A manual transfer switch with an inlet box is the simplest setup. Standby generators with an automatic switch cost more, mostly because of the gas line, the pad and the size of the switch. Manny prices the electrical side in writing and tells you which parts other trades will handle.

Questions about this job.
What people ask Manny about generator hookups and transfer switches.
Or call (786) 299-2168No. Backfeeding through an outlet can send power back down the utility line and injure a line worker. It can also start a fire in your own wiring. A transfer switch or interlock is the safe way to do it.
Before June if you can. Once a storm is in the forecast, every electrician in Miami-Dade is booked and generators sell out. Call (786) 299-2168 and we will get it in before the season.
We handle the electrical side, which means the transfer switch, the inlet or the standby wiring, and the permit. If your standby unit needs a gas line, that part is done by a licensed gas contractor, and we coordinate with them.
