A Level 2 charger is a big, steady load that runs for hours, usually at night when the AC is also running. Before Manny quotes one, he looks at your panel to see whether it has room for a dedicated circuit. Sometimes it does. Sometimes the right answer is to upgrade the panel at the same time, and we will tell you that up front.

Most of our installs go in a garage or carport, or on an outside wall when the car lives in the driveway. Outdoors we use rated conduit and a weatherproof mount, because a wall connector on a Miami wall gets sun, salt air and summer storms all year.

Signs it's time to call

• You are charging off a regular 120 volt outlet and it takes all night and then some
• You just bought an EV or have one on order
• Your panel is full or still 100 amps
• You want the charger outside, where the car actually parks

What it costs

Price mostly comes down to distance and capacity: how far the charger sits from the panel, what the conduit run has to go through, and whether your panel can take the circuit as it is. If it can, it's a straightforward job. If it can't, Manny will price the panel work separately so you can see both numbers.
