Homestead is the southern end of our service area. A lot of homes here are newer than in the rest of Miami-Dade, which means the panels are often fine and the calls are mostly about adding things: a car charger, a generator hookup, outdoor lighting, or circuits for a new pool.

There is one thing that makes Homestead different from the rest of the county. Inside city limits, power comes from the city's own utility, HPS Energy (Homestead Public Services), not FPL. Any service upgrade or meter work has to be coordinated with them, and we handle that.

Homestead is south of us along the Turnpike, roughly a twenty-minute drive from the shop.

The houses in Homestead

Homestead was hit hard by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and it grew quickly in the 2000s with large new subdivisions. Much of the housing stock is from those two periods: post-Andrew rebuilds and newer tract homes, with older houses closer to the historic downtown.

What we keep an eye on here

Being further south and closer to the Everglades doesn't make storms any easier, and outages here can run long. Generator inlets and transfer switches are some of the most worthwhile jobs we do in Homestead.

Permits in Homestead

Homestead has its own building department for addresses inside city limits. Unincorporated areas nearby, such as the Redland, go through Miami-Dade County. We check which applies to your address and pull the right permit.

What Homestead calls us for most

  • EV charger installation. Level 2 chargers and Tesla Wall Connectors on a dedicated circuit, with a panel check first so the charger doesn't trip the house.
  • Generator hookups and transfer switches. Transfer switches, generator inlets and standby generator wiring, so storm season doesn't mean extension cords through a window.
  • Panel upgrades and replacements. New breaker panels, 100 to 200 amp service changes, and the permit, inspection and utility coordination that come with them.

Around Homestead

We work around Krome Avenue, Campbell Drive, the Turnpike, downtown Homestead and Homestead-Miami Speedway, and in Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay next door.
